The regional subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, called Firefly, is investigating, according to reports, a fleet purchase program with the goal of reequipping it’s turboprop fleet. The airline currently operates with ATR72-500 aircraft regionally after the airline ceased operating jet equipment.
One report indicated that a type decision had not been made, but that ATR72 and DHC-8-Q400 aircraft were under consideration. No firm decision is expected before the first quarter of 2013 and possibly later in the year.
