On June 20th, 2013 Embraer announced that Japan Airlines had converted four options it held on Embraer 170s to firm orders.
The firm order was already included in Embraer’s backlog as an undisclosed customer. In total Japan Airlines now holds fifteen aircraft on firm order.
Currently Japan Airlines operates twelve Embraer 170s on domestic routes operating from four hub airports through its feeder airline structure.
