The first of two Bombardier CRJ-900 NextGen aircraft was delivered to RwandAir on October 19, 2012. This delivery marks RwandAir as the first operator of a CRJ-900 aircraft in Eastern Africa.
The aircraft is CRJ-900 NextGen MSN 15286 registration 9XR-WH.
The airline has an additional CRJ-900 on order and expects to take delivery of that aircraft within the next two months. The aircraft are configured with seven business class seats and 68 economy class seats.
RwandAir’s fleet includes two Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets, which are expected to leave the fleet when the two CRJ-900s are in service, one Bombardier DHC-8-200 turboprop, two 737-500s and two 737-800s. The carrier operates routes to Johannesburg, Brazzaville, Libreville and Dubai.
