Pinnacle Airlines CRJ strikes two deer on landing

On July 4th, 2011 at approximately 11 PM  CDT, a Pinnacle Airlines Canadair Regional Jet 200 Series aircraft being operated on behalf of Delta Airlines as flight DL3997 from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Brainerd, Minnesota with 18 passengers and 3 crew, was rolling out on Brainerd’s runway braking through about 100 knots when the aircraft struck two deer that were on the runway. No injuries occurred to the occupants of the aircraft, the two deer were killed.

The airline said the return flight the following morning had to be cancelled due to damage to the aircraft’s landing gear doors and flaps.

Eighth Customer Orders 10 CSeries Aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that an unidentified European airline has placed a firm order for 10 Bombardier CS100 aircraft. According to the news release, this airline is a first-time buyer of Bombardier aircraft, no other details were given.

CSeries aircraft customers include Republic Airways (40 CS300 aircraft), Deutsche Lufthansa AG (30 CS100 aircraft), Lease Corporation International Group (17 CS300 and three CS100 aircraft), Braathens Aviation (five CS100 and five CS300 aircraft), an unidentified airline (three CS100 aircraft) and a major network airline (10 CS100 aircraft).

Including the order announced today, Bombardier has booked firm orders for a total of 123 CSeries aircraft, including 61 CS100 and 62 CS300 aircraft. The CSeries aircraft program has also booked options for 109 aircraft, and Korean Air has signed a Letter of Intent for up to 30 CSeries aircraft.

Kenya Airways orders ten Embraer 190s at Paris Air Show

Kenya Airways signed a letter of intent for ten Embraer 190 aircraft at the Paris Air Show today. The first Embraer 190 would be delivered in the second half of 2012, and the carrier has options for an additional ten Embraer 190s.

The airline has five Embraer 190s on order and received its second aircraft on June 1, 2011. The airline operates five Embraer 170 Long Range aircraft as well in its fleet.

Korean Air purchases Bombardier CS300 aircraft

Bombardier has signed an order agreement with Korean Air, which was announced at the Paris Air Show today. The airline has agreed to buy 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft with an option on a further 10 aircraft. The airline also obtained purchase rights for another 10 in the future if required.

A letter of intent was officially signed after several months of negotiations, but the announcement did not disclose financial details. Korean Air currently operates a fleet of 136 passenger and cargo jet aircraft to 112 cities in 39 countries.

Korean Air is the first CSeries customer in Asia.
