Delta introduces WiFi to ASA CRJ-700s

The first Regional Jet in the world with In-Flight WiFi reentered service today after the installation of the system in a Atlantic Southeast Airlines Canadair CRJ700, under the Delta Connection banner. The system is provided by Gogo Inflight Internet and is billed at various levels of service including a monthly unlimited connection plan for $34.95 US.

Delta plans to introduce the service to all of its regional jet fleet within the next two years.

Airline Places Order for Up to Six Bombardier CSeries Aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace announced on June 7th, 2011 that an airline, which has requested to remain unidentified, has placed a firm order for three CSeries 100 aircraft and options on a further three more. Deliveries of the aircraft are scheduled to start in 2014.

This announcement increases firm orders for the CSeries family of aircraft to 103 in total which includes 41 CS100 and 62 CS300 aircraft. Other customers that have ordered CSeries aircraft include Republic Airways (40 CS300 aircraft), Deutsche Lufthansa AG (30 CS100 aircraft), Lease Corporation International Group (17 CS300 and three CS100 aircraft) and Braathens Aviation (five CS100 and five CS300
aircraft). As well, the CSeries aircraft program has options for a further 103 aircraft.

Aeroflot takes delivery of first Superjet 100

Russian flag carrier Aeroflot took delivery of its first Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet on June 6th, 2011. The airline is expected to put the aircraft into service between Moscow and St Petersburg on June 16th, 2011.

Aeroflot is the second operator of the Superjet 100 after Armenian carrier Armavia, which has been operating this aircraft type since April 19th, 2011. Aeroflot is scheduled to receive 10 Superjets this year, a dozen in 2012 and eight in 2013.

 

Braathens orders 10 CSeries aircraft

Braathens Aviation placed a firm order for 10 CSeries jets, and took options on another 10 aircraft on June 1st, 2011.

Braathens Aviation ordered five CS100 and five CS300 jets for Malmo Aviation, the largest operator flying out of Bromma-Stockholm City Airport, near downtown Stockholm. Malmo currently operates 12 jet aircraft and intends to renew its fleet with CSeries aircraft, starting in 2014. The 110-seat CS100 aircraft is scheduled to enter service in 2013, followed by 130-seat CS300 in 2014.

Bombardier now has 100 firm and 100 potential orders for the CSeries from four customers. Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Irish plane lessor Lease Corp. International and Republic Airways Holdings Inc. have also ordered CSeries aircraft.
